Ford Australia took the new XW Falcon body and built it into a homologation weapon for Bathurst — that legendary 1000-kilometer endurance race at Mount Panorama that has decided the entire Australian muscle car rivalry for sixty years. Under the hood: the 351 Windsor V8, four-barrel carburetor, four-speed top loader, GT badging, and that aggressive twin-scoop fiberglass hood that became the unmistakable Aussie GT signature. Bonnet pins, GT stripes running the length of the body, dual exhaust, sport wheels, and a stance that meant business. Then Ford went one further: the GT-HO Phase I — the homologation special with high-flow heads, a hotter cam, beefed-up suspension, and a chassis tuned specifically to dominate Bathurst.
