Just a tubular steel chassis bonded to a Kevlar and carbon-fiber composite body, fixed Lexan side windows that slide instead of rolling down, and that absolutely iconic body shape drawn by Pininfarina to maximize downforce — with NACA ducts cut into the bodywork, the legendary basket-handle rear wing, and those gorgeous flying-buttress C-pillars flowing into the rear deck. Underneath the engine cover: a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 471 horsepower in the most violent, lag-induced, oh-god-here-it-comes way possible, with absolutely terrifying boost building somewhere in the upper rev range.
The first production road car to officially break the 200 mph barrier. The F40 was the last Ferrari personally approved by Enzo before his passing in 1988 — making it the final road car bearing his direct stamp of approval.
