The S14 Kouki is the Silvia at its sharpest. Kouki — Japanese for "late period" — refers to the 1997-1998 facelift of the S14, and Nissan absolutely nailed the refresh. The original Zenki S14 was already a great chassis, but the Kouki brought a meaner, more aggressive front end with sharper aggressive headlights, a redesigned bumper with much larger air openings, and a tighter, angrier overall face that turned the S14 from "handsome '90s coupe" into "actual JDM weapon." Underneath that updated bodywork: the same lightweight rear-wheel-drive platform, the same legendary SR20DET turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 220+ horsepower in JDM-spec, the same multi-link rear suspension, the same near-perfect chassis balance — but now with subtle suspension geometry tweaks and revised tuning that made the late S14 the chassis serious drifters specifically chase.
Walk into any Formula D pit, any Japanese touge meet, any underground drift event from Ebisu to Las Vegas, and the Kouki S14 is one of the most respected platforms in the entire scene.
