The R32 is where Godzilla was born. After a 16-year hiatus, Nissan brought the GT-R name back in 1989 with the R32 — and immediately rewrote what was possible for a Japanese performance car. The R32 GT-R won every single Japanese Touring Car Championship from 1990 to 1993 — undefeated, untouchable, completely dominant — until the rule book was literally rewritten to outlaw it. From an Australian motoring magazine watching this car destroy everything in front of it at Bathurst and finally giving up trying to find a comparison.
