The Toyota Celica GT-Four is Toyota's rally crown jewel. Across three generations — the ST165 (1986), the ST185 (1989), and the ST205 (1994) — the GT-Four was Toyota's homologation special for the World Rally Championship, and the chassis that took Toyota to the absolute pinnacle of motorsport during the legendary Group A era. Underneath the aggressive bodywork: a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four mated to a full-time all-wheel-drive system with viscous-coupling center differential and Torsen rear differential, sending power to all four corners with grip that made the GT-Four a weapon on gravel, tarmac, snow, and mud.
Then Toyota went rallying. Carlos Sainz won the WRC Driver's Championship in the ST165 in 1990 and 1992. Juha Kankkunen took it again in 1993. Didier Auriol won in 1994. The GT-Four became the first Japanese car to win the WRC Manufacturers' Championship — twice. ST205 came with that wild rear wing, water-spray intercooler, anti-lag, and the kind of aggressive wide-body bodywork that made every other Celica look completely tame by comparison. WRC limited editions, Group A homologation specials, and standard production GT-Fours all carry the same bloodline: forced-induction, all-wheel-drive, real-deal Toyota performance.
